Brand New Clinical Trials in Florida

Female researchers providing information on clinical trials

If you have read some of our previous posts on Florida clinical trials, you’d know that this state has become a leader in conducting innovative research (along with other states like California and New York).

One of the reasons why Florida continues to see such success in the clinical research industry is that this state contains an incredibly diverse patient population which is ideal for new clinical trials. If you are interested in enrolling in a clinical study in the Sunshine State, then you will be given access to pioneering treatment therapies which may not be available anywhere else in the country.

RCT for Women With a Persisting Pregnancy of Unknown Location

This February, a clinical trial was initiated at the University of Miami for women who may be at risk for an ectopic pregnancy. Clinical investigators are comparing three different management strategies which are available for women experiencing a persisting pregnancy of unknown location (PPUL). In order to qualify for this Miami clinical study, female participants need to be hemodynamically stable with a clinically confirmed PPUL.

All participants are randomly assigned to one of the following three strategies: 1) Empiric treatment used with methotrexate (MTX) 2) Uterine evacuation with MTX applied afterwards 3) Expectant management. After the participants have been randomized, they are to be monitored and clinically treated based on how their medical condition progresses.

Study of Meloxicam Capsules to Treat Osteoarthritis Pain

This is a phase 3 clinical trial which is being conducted over the course of the year based at the Jacksonville Center for Clinical Research. If you have been diagnosed with osteoarthritis (OA), then you know that the pain this can cause in affected joints can be unbearable. The primary purpose of this Jacksonville clinical trial is to evaluate the overall effectiveness and safety of Meloxicam [Test] Capsules when used as a treatment for osteoarthritis which has developed in the knee or the hip. If you are a patient with OA and you are older than 40 years old, this may be a perfect opportunity to enroll in a clinical study.

Long-term Open-Label Safety Study to Evaluate EN3409

Avail Clinical Research in DeLand, FL is enrolling new participants for a phase 3 open-label study of the experimental drug BEMA® Buprenorphine. This study drug, which is referred to as EN3409, was designed to treat subjects with moderate to severe chronic pain.

For the next year, the research staff at Avail will be evaluating the tolerability, safety, and analgesic efficacy of this experimental chronic pain drug in participants who have been living with the recurring symptoms of chronic pain. You will not be eligible to enroll in this clinical trial if you have any underlying medical disorder which could jeopardize either your safety or the results of this study.

Moving forward, you can be sure that Florida will only continue to play a more crucial role in the development of new treatments and therapies for the conditions and diseases that still plague so many lives around the world. With your ongoing support and involvement, clinical investigators will continue to have the resources they need to make a real difference for mankind.
