BACKGROUND
Innovative Clinical Trials was founded in 2002 by partners, James E. Garrison III, MD and G. Duncan McCarroll, MD. They are both ACRP Certified Principal Investigators, and they are supported by certified clinical research coordinators, licensed nurses and registered medical assistants and an educated administrative staff. Together with their staff, the doctors provide over 40 years of knowledge in clinical research expertise.

With over 40 years experience caring for patients with a broad spectrum of medical necessities, Drs. Garrison and McCarroll offer a wealth of knowledge and expertise. Below is a list of experience with Clinical Research Trials for phases II-IV.

Our investigators are available, beyond investigator meetings, to provide significant pre-study protocol input. Our investigators are also involved with overseeing the entire trial on a day to day basis. We have a weekly research meeting that is utilized to review protocols, Safety IND reports, recruitment exercises, CME credit and SOP review.

Rhonda Yeatts, LVN CCRC CCRP, Administrator
Rhonda has been an LVN for 18 years. She has enjoyed clinical research for the past 10 years. Prior to her role as administrator, she has functioned as Senior Clinical Research Coordinator, and has experience in her previous research experiences functioning as a recruiter, coordinator, research trainer, clinical research staff supervisor, and quality assurance auditor in a phase I unit. Rhonda is a certified research professional with the Society of Clinical Research Associates (SoCra); is a certified clinical research coordinator and member of Association Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP), as well as a member of the local San Antonio chapter of ACRP. Rhonda is certified in IV therapy, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and Basic CPR.

Elizabeth Hendrix, BA CCRC
Liz began her research career in college where she conducted a study on hope and optimism which was presented at the 2004 Society for Personal and Social Psychology conference and is being published this year. After college she began work at the Cancer Therapy and Research Center in the Investigational Drug Development section, where she became the youngest Clinical Research Assistant in CTRC's history. From there she moved to Hepatitis C and gastroenterological research where she became ACRP certified as a Clinical Research Coordinator. She has worked in many additional therapeutic areas such as diabetes, metabolic syndrome, hypertension, Parkinson's Disease and Alzheimer's Disease. Liz is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, IV Therapy and Basic CPR.

Lydia Crenshaw, CRC
Lydia has 9 years of clinical research experience as a CRC specializing in neurology studies, including multiple sclerosis, neuropathy, Alzheimer's Disease, Parkinson's Disease, and other dementias. Lydia has obtained much of her experience while working at the prestigious Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas prior to moving to San Antonio. Prior to her tenure with Innovative Clinical Trials, Ms. Crenshaw also worked at Brook Army Medical Center, Fort Sam Houston Army Base in their clinical research department. Lydia has experience in cognitive testing needed for MS, dementia and Alzheimer's studies. Lydia is a member of the Society of Clinical Research Professionals, and a member of ACRP. Lydia is IV and Basic CPR certified, and is pursuing her certification with ACRP to enhance her position as Clinical Research Coordinator. Lydia also serves as the OSHA officer for Innovative Clinical Trials.


We recruit study subjects from our large database of clinical and research practices. We also utilize print, TV, radio and web ads. Our website offers information about our current clinical trials.

Innovative Clinical Trials is conveniently located in the heart of the Medical Center, just off of Loop 410 and Fredericksburg Road. We take pride in the one-on-one time that the investigators and CRCs take with all the research volunteers.

ICT equipment and volunteer spaces:

  • Fully equipped, private room for visits
  • Soothing infusion suite where the volunteers can relax by listening to a choice of soothing CDs or watch a movie from our movie library.
  • On-site clinical laboratory with centrifuges, refrigerator, dry ice box, -20 freezer
