Waterbury Pulmonary Associates Research is the active clinical research arm of a large single specialty private practice pulmonary and critical care group. We have been actively participating in clinical research for 8 years. Our mission is to provide excellent clinical research recruitment and study performance while enhancing the care of our patients and research subjects. We have a large outpatient practice and data base , our investigators are all attending staff at two Yale University affiliated teaching hospitals. Our researchers are all Yale University faculty members.

Katie Cleveland, LPN, CRC
Research Coordinator
Over three years of clinical research experience in all aspects of pulmonary medicine. IATA, NIH, CPR certified. Follows ICH-GCP and FDA guidelines.

Erinn Tiernan, LPN, CRC
Less than one year of clinical research experience pulmonary medicine. IATA, NIH and CRP certified. Follows ICH-GCP and FDA guidelines.

In addition our site has five full time respiratory therapists with research experience, two certified phlebotomists.


Our practice has over 7500 active patients aged 6 and higher. The practice gives us ready access to many individuals with asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Are catchment area is over 500,000 people. We also have a database of prior study participants and people interested in participating in future studies.


Pulmonary/Respiratory Diseases

We are primarily an outpatient practice, but have experience and expertise in inpatient pulmonary and critical care studies as well. Our facility features four full pulmonary function testing laboratories including three body box plethysmography; on-site phlebotomy and laboratory with centrifuge, refrigerated centrifuge, sub-zero freezer and freezer; ECG; treadmill; and oximetry. We have a pleasant waiting room with television and a separate research lounge for study subjects. Our facility is close to Interstate 84 and accessible with public transportation. The site has dedicated space wireless internet and phone lines for study monitors. We are easily reached from Bradley Airport in Hartford or from any of the New York Metropolitan airports.
