KMED Research is a clinical research services firm located in St. Clair Shores, Michigan. We conduct Phase II, III and IV clinical trials at our site and serve as a biospecimen collection agent and consultant. KMED Research has the ability to manage clinical trials in more than 35 areas of therapeutic expertise.

Our clinic database includes more than 13,000 patients and our subject recruitment database is approximately 1,000. We maintain Standard Operating Procedures that follow GCP guidelines.

KMED has two facilities totaling 3,800 square-feet that offer a private and comfortable environment for study participants, monitors and administrative functions.

We manage our site utilizing advanced web-based clinical trial management software. This system provides complete enterprise workflow management including subject data tracking, recruitment, enrollment, visit scheduling and reporting.

Clarita S. Ketels, DO

Internal Medicine

Dr. Clarita Ketels has served as the President and Medical Director of KMED Research since she founded the company in 2005. She is a Certified Physician Investigator and has served as the Principal Investigator for more than 70 clinical trials over the past 18 years.

Dr. Ketels attended the University of the Philippines and graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Detroit Mercy. She attended medical school at Michigan State University, College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency at St. John Hospital in Detroit and has been practicing Internal Medicine in St. Clair Shores for the last 26 years.

Dr. Ketels is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Bariatric Medicine, and Disability Analysis.

KMED Research is conveniently located in St. Clair Shores, MI, just two miles north of Detroit. The facility is also a quarter-mile east of Interstate 94 (as well as two miles south of Interstate 696), making it easily accessible for most residents in the Detroit metropolitan area.

KMED is located within Macomb county, the ninth smallest of Michigan's 83 counties (with 482 square miles), yet it ranks third in population with 825,000 residents.

The KMED facility is also two miles from Wayne County. It is made up of 33 cities, including the city of Detroit, 10 townships, one village and 41 public school districts. Its population of approximately 2.1 million makes it the most populous county in the state of Michigan and the eleventh most populous county in the nation.

Our 3,000 square-foot, stand-alone facility provides a clean, private and comfortable environment for our study subjects. We also have an 800 square-foot office across the street that houses administrative, regulatory and clinical staff.

  • PFT machine
  • Refrigerator (2-8 degrees Centigrade)
  • -20 degree freezer
  • Lab room with two centrifuges to process samples on site
  • Drug storage area - double locked, secured, limited access and temperature controlled
  • Study monitor room with wireless broadband Internet access
  • Large temperature controlled space for long-term storage of study documentation
