Our dedicated research program conducts both inpatient and outpatient trials. The ProMedica Health System (PHS) Research Office is located on the campus of The Toledo Hospital, which provides a central location and accessibility for patients participating in our research trials.

The PHS Research Office strives to facilitate the conduct of research trials with the utmost integrity, with strict adherence to Good Clinical Practice. Our investigators and coordinators work closely together to ensure patient safety, and the collection of the high quality data.

We are located at a large tertiary hospital in Toledo, Ohio, and have access to state of the art equipment.

We can provide:

  • Full laboratory services, including -70 freezers
  • Off-site overflow storage
  • Pharmacy services
  • Locked and alarmed drug storage refrigerator

Our PHS Research Office has been conducting phase II-IV clinical research trials for more than 15 years. Some of our therapeutic specialties include cardiology, critical care, diabetes, family practice/internal medicine, hypertension, infectious disease, nephrology, neurology, oncology, orthopedic/sports medicine, pulmonary, pediatrics and vascular.

The staff of our PHS Research Office has extensive experience in conducting and managing clinical research trials. Our research coordinators are registered nurses and pharmacists, and have experience in a variety of specialties. We have a research coordinator on call 24 hours at all time.


Patients are drawn from hospital inpatients, including emergency room and two family practice clinic settings. Any patient may be approached; even non-investigator patients. We advertise in the community and private physician office settings for outpatient study candidates. The Toledo metropolitan population approximates 500,000.
