We recruit study volunteers from the 2.4 million population of the greater Denver metro area.

Caucasians and Hispanics are the dominant groups of people living in both the Denver and Fort Collins areas, with Asians and Blacks also represented. Hispanic and Asian volunteers are English-speaking. We find most of our study volunteers to be well-educated. Access to good transportation is not a problem. Although it is rarely necessary, we are prepared to provide qualified patients with taxi or bus fare.

We locate study subjects through the principal investigators' practices, newspaper and radio advertisements, and referrals from the medical community. Lately we have been contacted by Internet users who are interested in volunteering for studies. A cooperative, motivated population of potential study volunteers, which we have found to be present in the Denver area, contributes greatly to our success in achieving enrollment goals.
