Mid-South Anesthesia Consultants, PLLC (MAC) is a physician owned, progressive, and innovative healthcare organization specializing in pain management clinical practice and clinical research. "Armed with Science...Guided by Compassion" is the guiding principal. The goal is to address the unmet need for medicinal and interventional pain management services in order to improve the quality of life for patients in the surrounding metropolitan areas of Memphis, TN; Southaven, MS; and New Albany, MS.
Dr. Jovie Bridgewater is managing partner and founded Mid-South Anesthesia Consultants (MAC) as an inpatient anesthesia consultation practice in 2000. In 2008, the consulting practice expanded to include an outpatient pain management clinic. In 2009, the research center was added to conduct pain management and related clinical trials.
MAC provides anesthesia services for Baptist Memorial Hospital - DeSoto; the DeSoto Surgery Center in Southaven, MS; and Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County in New Albany, MS. The consulting practice includes 6 MDs anesthesiologists, (all are board certified MDs) and 22 nurse anesthetists (CRNPs). The pain management clinic is primarily served by 2 fellowship trained pain management anesthesiologists and the clinical trials research center is lead by primary investigator, Dr. Lora McGill, a Board Certified Neurologist.
Dr. Lora McGill, MD has been active in clinical trials research since 2001 and has experience in more than 150 trials. Dr. McGill has conducted clinical trials in phases II, III, and IV. The center's specialty focus is pain and related integrative and neurobehavioral diseases such as:

The primary investigator is Lora McGill, MD, a Board Certified Neurologist. Dr. McGill , has been active in clinical trials research since 2001, has experience conducting over 150 trials. The sub-investigators are: Jovie Bridgewater, MD, Diplomate of Anesthesia and Dennis D. McCoy, MD, Board Certified Pain Management, and Diplomate of Anesthesia. The coordinator and sub-investigator is Carol Warren, RN, MBA, PhD who is licensed and board certified in Adult Mental Health in nursing and social work. Dr. Warren, an Assistant Professor, has taught research at the undergraduate and graduate levels and has practical experience with over 40 central nervous system clinical trials as sub-investigator.
Patients referred to MAC for consultation and pain management are referred by physicians from such specialties as orthopedics, neurology, urology, oncology, podiatry and general medicine specialties. In addition to physicians referring into MAC's consultation practice, the clinical trials recruitment base for advertisement and referrals encompasses physicians and patients in the Memphis/Southaven metropolitan geographic service area of Tennessee counties: Shelby, Tipton, and Fayette; Mississippi counties: Desoto, Marshall, Tate, Tunica, Benton; and Crittenden county in Arkansas. MAC is an independent entity and is located on the campus of Baptist Memorial Hospital- Desoto. The clinic's location provides easy access to nearly every specialty of medicine, as it is situated in the heart of the medical community in the Southaven area. The actual practice is also conveniently located in a medical office building that houses the Desoto Outpatient Surgery Center and a number of other outpatient practices.
