Welcome to Commonwealth Biomedical Research, LLC, we are an independent, full time dedicated clinical research company. Founded in 1994 Commonwealth first began as a medical writing and consulting business to the pharmaceutical industry. In 1998 Commonwealth began performing human clinical studies and has participated in more than 50 outpatient and hospital inpatient studies. Commonwealth Biomedical Research is located in Madisonville, Kentucky centrally located within 50 miles of southern Indiana, southern Illinois and northern Tennessee. Commonwealth has more than 5000 active patient files. Doctor Wittmers family practice sees about twenty to thirty patients a day of which many choose to participate in our clinical trials.

Bret A. Wittmer, DVM, MD, CCI, Medical Director
Doctor Wittmer has 5 years experience as a Board Certified Family Practice Physician, certified Medical Acupuncturist and Certified Clinical Investigator. He holds current certifications in CPR, First Aid, ACLS, and PALS. IATA training. HIV/Aids and Preventing Disease Transmission training. Doctor Wittmer also holds admitting privileges to Regional Medical Center Hospital. Regional Medical Center is a level III trauma center with most specialties being represented.

Mike Garrett, RN, CCRC
Mike has 13 years nursing experience with 5 of these being in research. With training in the ER, CCU, Home Health, open heart recovery and ICU. He currently holds certifications in CPR, First Aid, ACLS, TNCC, ENPC, and PALS. HIV/Aids and Preventing Disease Transmission training. Mike has conducted multiple industry sponsored trials.

Tom Furgerson, EMTP, CCRC
Tom has 8 years of experience working as a Paramedic and 4 years as a flight medic. Tom has 5 years research experience. He currently holds certifications in CPR, First Aid, PALS, ACLS, BTLS and NRP. Tom also hold instructor cards in ACLS, PALS, CPR, First Aid, AIDS/HIV, Preventing Disease Transmission, and is also a Level 3 Fire Service instructor. Tom has conducted multiple industry sponsored trials.

Mark Schluckebier, Study Coordinator- CCRC
Mark has 4 years training in the Air Force as a Med-Tech. With additional training for 10 years in the VA and private sectors of the US. Mark is currently CPR and First Aid certified. Mark also trains all our staff on current OSHA requirements making sure Commonwealth is compliant with all OSHA guidelines. Mark currently assists in the conduct and support of all clinical trials in addition to conducting multiple sponsor trials.

Kathy Morgan, Administrative Assistant - Regulatory Specialist
Kathy has worked for Commonwealth since 2002. Kathy also has HIV/Aids and Preventing Disease Transmission training. Kathy fields all patient related phone calls and monitors the screening process for all study related activities. Kathy is responsible for all study related regulatory documents.

Commonwealth has a patient recruiter that pulls patients from our comprised database of patients that have been gathered from screening clinics, referrals, clinical practice, and previous study patients. Commonwealth pulls patients from Western Kentucky, Southern Illinois, Southern Indiana, and Northern Tennessee.

Commonwealths recruiting department screens all applicants so we can select reliable and compliant patients.
