Our research department operates within the private practice of a large cardiology and pulmonary practice (11 cardiologists and 4 pulmonologists). This practice is located in Western NY in a suburban area of Buffalo NY. We have over 15 years of experience in the performance of clinical trials phases II-IV, in both the in-patient as well as out-patient clinical settings. We offer the advantage of central IRB review for out-patient trials.

Dr. John C.Corbelli
Research Director and Principal Investigator
Dr. Corbelli has been involved in clinical trials since 1988. Dr. Corbelli has demonstrated expertise in the areas of lipid management and interventional cardiology both in the clinical as well as investigational settings. He has performed investigator-initiated trials within our practice. Cleveland Clinic lists Dr. Corbelli in their database of IVUS investigators. Dr. Corbelli carefully reviews each protocol before he accepts participation to ensure enrollment goals can be achieved.

Dr. James Lampasso
Principal Investigator for Pulmonary trials
Dr. Lampasso is a pulmonologist with a large number of patients in his practice presenting with COPD, Asthma, and other respiratory disorders. Dr. Lampasso has been involved in clinical trials for approximately 10 years.

BettyJo McAuliffe RPA-C
Primary Physician-Extender assigned to assist in the assessment of research patients
BettyJo has completed tutorials in the protection of human subjects and has been directly involved in trials for over 2 years.

Beth Cooke, RN
Beth is the Research Manager who is an ACRP member and CCRC certified. She has been a study coordinator since 1992. Beth manages regulatory issues, budget and contract negotiations, and coordinates in-patient trials (acute coronary syndromes and interventional trials) with nursing-research privileges at 2 area hospitals. Beth is ACLS certified and has previous adult critical-care experience.

Lois Banks RN
Lois has had a total of 7 years experience as a study coordinator. Lois is ACLS certified and a member of the ACRP. Lois specializes in CHF, arrhythmia, HTN, CAD, and hyperlipidemia trials in the out-patient setting. Lois has previous adult critical-care experience.

Ann Galla LPN
Ann has been a study coordinator for 8 years at this site. Ann specializes in hyperlipidemia, HTN,CAD, and pulmonary trials in the out-patient setting. Ann is BLS certified, a member of the ACRP and has worked as a clinic nurse in the cholesterol and pulmonary clinics in addition to previous experience in a long-term adult health care setting.


We have a large practice of patients numbering over 15,000 active in this practice. Patients are referred here from all over Western NY. This provides an ideal setting for enrollment of patients in trials of a cardiovascular and pulmonary nature. We also have had great success in recruiting subjects by radio for HTN and hyperlipidemia trials.
