MAPS Applied Research Center (MARC) is a privately owned clinical investigative site that conducts multi therapeutic outpatient/inpatient phase I-IV clinical trials. MARC is designed to deliver innovative, state of the art medicine to our community while assisting pharmaceutical and device companies with bringing new products to market.

David Schultz, MD, D.A.B.P.M., F.I.P.P.
(Medical Director)
Dr. Schultz, founder and medical director of MAPS, is a board certified Anesthesiologist with additional certification in Pain Management from the American Board of Anesthesiology and the American College of Pain Medicine. Dr. Schultz completed a General Surgery residency at UCLA and an Anesthesiology residency at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Schultz practiced Anesthesiology at North Memorial Medical Center, where he was also the Director of the Anesthesiology Pain Service and Post Anesthesia Care Unit. Dr. Schultz has been a full time interventional pain specialist since 1995 and is an instructor for both the International Spinal Injection Society and the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians. Having participated in more than 30 studies, Dr. Schultz offers years of experience as a Principal Investigator.

James Anderson, MD, D.A.B.P.M
Dr. Anderson is board certified in Neurology and has additional board certification in Pain Medicine through the American College of Pain Medicine. Dr. Anderson completed his Neurology residency in 1981 and continued his medical training with an Anesthesiology residency at the University of Minnesota, which he completed in 1987. Dr. Anderson also completed fellowships in Neuroanesthesiology, Neuromuscular Disease, Electroencephalography and Electromyography. He worked as a clinical assistant professor of Anesthesiology at the University of Minnesota from 1988 to 1992 and has practiced full time in Neurology and Pain Medicine since 1994.

Stanley Antolak Jr., MD
Dr. Antolak is a board certified Urologist who treats chronic pelvic pain in both genders. His primary focus is on neuropathic pain of several origins, but mainly pudendal neuropathy. Dr. Antolak trained at the University of Minnesota, and the Minneapolis VA Medical Center. He specialized in general urology in St. Paul, Minnesota, for 25 years. Dr. Antolak also worked in Arizona, South Dakota and at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota where he studied pudendal neuropathy. He also trained in Nantes, France in the conservative and surgical treatments of pudendal neuropathy.

Thomas Cohn, MD
Dr. Cohn earned his medical degree from the University of Minnesota. He performed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, Northwestern University Medical School. Dr. Cohn furthered his training at the VA Medical Center in Wisconsin. He is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Dr. Cohn returned to Minnesota after several years of private practice in Rehabilitation and Occupational Medicine in New Mexico, and joined the MAPS team in April of 2000. Dr. Cohn is a member of the American Spinal Injury Association and the International Spinal Injection Society.

Robert H. Long, MD, D.A.B.P.M., F.I.P.P.
Dr. Long earned his medical degree from American University of the Caribbean in St. Maarten, Netherlands Antilles. He completed advanced training and residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Long went on to complete an ACGME accredited fellowship in Pain Management at Georgetown University/National Rehabilitation Hospital in Washington, District of Columbia. Dr. Long is a member of the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, International Spinal Injection Society, World Institute of Pain and the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Angela Greene, MPAS, PA-C, RN
(Executive Director of Clinical Research)
Ms. Greene received a Bachelor of Science degree in Healthcare Management from St. Mary's University and a Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Augsburg College, both in Minnesota. She is a board certified Physician Assistant in Family Practice, and has been practicing medicine for more than 15 years. As the Executive Director of MAPS Applied Research Center, Ms. Greene is responsible for study procurement, marketing, sponsor and public relations, investigator liaisons, quality control and overall project management. In addition to her administrative responsibilities, Ms. Greene serves as Principal/Sub-Investigator for a variety of clinical studies.

Peggy Schultz, MD
Dr. Schultz is a board certified Dermatologist and Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. She has been in private practice in Edina, Minnesota since 1988. She earned her medical degree from the University of California School of Medicine. She later completed an internship in Obstetrics-Gynecology at Harbor UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, California, followed by a residency in Internal Medicine at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Dr. Schultz also completed a full Dermatology residency at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. Dr. Schultz is certified in Human Subject Protections and has an interest in conducting phase II-IV clinical studies.

The Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area is the 15th largest in the nation with a population of approximately 3 million. Our minority population of 15% offers us the diversity needed for a good research sample. While most of our research subjects are from the Twin Cities metropolitan area, many are referred from the five state area (IL, WI, IA, SD, and ND). MARC has a large infrastructure and the capability to recruit high quality, reliable study participants from our extensive database of 75,000 patients. We also use recruitment tools such as TV, radio, newspaper, direct mail, and target publications.

MARC has one primary investigative site that is devoted entirely to research. Our facility is over 3000 square feet, and includes a spacious waiting area, four fully-equipped exam rooms, several large interview rooms, dedicated monitoring space, secured drug and device storage areas, designated CRF space and a CLIA waivered laboratory.

MARC is conveniently located near the intersection of Highway 494 and France Avenue in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Our site offers easy access to bus routes and parking. We are located just 20 minutes from the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport.
